All 50 passengers on a Greyhound bus stopped near Wadsworth on I-94 were safely evacuated after a “possible hostage situation” late Friday night and one suspect was in custody, authorities said.

Illinois State Police were notified of a pursuit out of Wisconsin involving the bus, police said. The bus crossed into Illinois and was stopped near I-94 at Rt. 173. A man with a gun was reportedly on the bus, the Lake County sheriff’s office said.

The bus was traveling from Milwaukee to Chicago when the incident began around 9:50 p.m., Greyhound said in a statement.

“The roadway remains closed at this time while the investigation continues,” Illinois State Police said.

Authorities said no injuries were reported.

Multiple police agencies were on the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
