Nearly 200,000 Salvadorans Must Leave, According to the Trump Administration

The Department of Homeland Security announced on Monday that it would terminate the Temporary Protected Status designation for El Savador. The termination is set for Sept. 9, 2019, which means that more than 200,000 El Salvadorans have 18 months to leave the U.S. or find another legal way to stay.

Joe Arpaio, a former county sheriff and a controversial figure in the world of law enforcement and immigration in Arizona, is running for the U.S. senate. He cited his “one unwavering reason” of running in a tweet: “to support the agenda and policies of President Donald Trump.”

On Sunday, snow fell onto what is usually a blistering Sahara Desert. The surprising event has only happened three times in the last 40 years. Before that, the Sahara Desert only received snow last year and back in 1979.
