Flooding was also seen on several other streets and beneath multiple underpasses, with cars trekking through high water in multiple places along Grand Avenue.

The heavy rain hit the Chicago area during Monday’s morning commute, with another round of storms slated to take aim at the region later in the day.

Another band of storms was expected to develop in the late afternoon and evening, again bringing downpours, lightning, small hail and gusty winds, as well as a marginal risk of severe weather.

The latest models showed the storms beginning around 4 p.m. – just in time to impact the evening commute. Early Tuesday could also see storms, with some clearing in the afternoon before dry conditions Wednesday and Thursday.

The next chance for storms after that looked to be Thursday night into Friday morning.
