A stretch of road was closed Thursday due to an “ongoing police situation” in suburban Schiller Park, authorities said.

Irving Park Road was sealed off by Schiller Park police in addition to neighboring departments between Mannheim Road and 25th Street, police said.

One witness told NBC 5 he saw SWAT officers and a bomb robot being deployed in the area. About 9 p.m. he said the scene seemed to be calm despite the heavy police presence.

No other information was immediately available.
