Four Illinois hospitals ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s top children’s hospitals in the nation.

Lurie Children’s Hospital in Streeterville, University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital in Hyde Park, Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn and Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria made the publication’s Best Children’s Hospital list for 2017-18.

Lurie was also named to U.S. News’ Best Children’s Honor Roll, the 10 hospitals nationwide with the highest scores across 10 medical specialties. Lurie ranked seventh in the nation overall. No other Illinois institution cracked the Top 10.

Boston Children’s Hospital came in atop the overall rankings, and also ranked No. 1 in five of the 10 specialties. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was No. 2 overall, followed by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Lurie also came in at No. 3 in a separate ranking specifically for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery, behind Texas Children’s and Boston Children’s. It was No. 4 in urology, as well. U of C, Advocate and Children’s Hospital of Illinois did not rank in the Top 5 of any specialty.

A total of 82 hospitals in 33 states were ranked in the publication’s 11th annual list. New York and California tied for the most in-state honorees, with eight apiece. Read the full list here.
