Lombard Gas Leak Prompts Evacuations: Authorities

A construction crew struck a large gas main in the west suburbs Thursday prompting precautionary evacuations, authorities confirmed.

The main was struck about 11:25 a.m. near 740 Eat Roosevelt Road, the Lombard Fire Department said.

NICOR says the scene should be cleared by midnight.

Authorities said there were no injuries reported.

No other details were immediately available.
