Man Dies After ATV Accident in Lake County Forest Preserve

A man died and a woman was injured after they were involved in an ATV accident in the Lake County Forest Preserve early Sunday morning.

The Buffalo Grove and Wheeling Fire Departments received a call at 12:55 a.m. Sunday morning to a reported ATV accident within the Forest Preserve. According to a statement, a female passenger on an ATV was at the northeast corner of the preserve, and she said she felt that she was going to pass out.

After rescue workers entered the preserve, they located the woman, along with a male driver of the ATV on the path behind North Riverwalk Dr. in Buffalo Grove.

The female passenger had a possible head injury, and the man was in traumatic cardiac arrest, according to the press release.

The man was taken to Condell Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The woman was taken to the same hospital, where she was being treated for minor injuries.

The identities of both victims have not been released, pending notification of their families.
