Weekend Guide: Taste of Lincoln Avenue

Taste of Lincoln takes place on, you guessed it, Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton and Wrightwood.  While there are many summer festivals to see in the city, Taste of Lincoln stands out with a kids’ carnival area complete with pony rides and all! Mulitple musical acts spread over two stages and over 60 merchants and vendors to choose from. Taste of Lincoln isn’t just the pioneer of summer food festivals, it’s a Chicago classic.

Wicker Park Music Festival

In the very hip neighborhood of Wicker Park, an equally hip music festival emerges year after year.  Known for its variety of musical acts, this year proves no different.  There’s something for everyone, from indie rock band Guided by Voices to local rapper Malcolm London.  For a donation of $10 per day you get three main stages, nearly 40 acts, food and shopping.  I’d call that a deal.

Tour de Fat

Less of a street fest vibe and more of a circus-ey festival party, Tour de Fat combines food, fun, bikes and most definitely beer.  Presented by Fat Tire, Tour de Fat hosts an array of contests including a fashion show, slow ride and dance contest.  Not to mention the beloved late-night hip-hop band The Legendary Roots will be headlining.

8th Annual Bloody Mary Fest

This North Shore festival takes Bloody Marys to the next level in a festival dedicted to drinking, celebrating and the pursuit of the best receipe.  Mixologists come together to compete for the title of the “Best Bloody Mary in the Midwest.” But with Bloody Marys on the menu, everybody wins.
