Hinsdale’s Little League team lost to Michigan on Saturday night, falling just short of advancing to the Little League World Series.

Hinsdale lost 6-3 to Grosse Point Woods-Shores, who took down the Great Lakes regional title and will advance to the World Series in Williamsport.

The team was looking to become just the third Illinois squad to make it to the Little League World Series since 2001, and only the fourth since 1990 to achieve that feat.

One of the teams, Jackie Robinson West, made it all the way to the championship game in 2014, but had their United States title stripped after it was ruled they had used ineligible players during their Cinderella run.
