Note: Deputy Keltner’s funeral service and the procession immediately following will be streamed live in the video player above.
The funeral for Deputy Jacob Keltner was scheduled to be held Wednesday, with the public asked to line the streets for a procession honoring the McHenry County Sheriff’s officer slain while serving a warrant last week.
The funeral service was expected to begin at 10 a.m. at Woodstock North High School, located in the 3000 block of Raffel Road.
Police asked members of the public to line the official procession route to “show their support and honor Deputy Keltner.” The full route can be seen below.
Keltner was fatally shot Thursday as U.S. Marshals attempted to serve an arrest warrant at the Extended Stay Hotel in Rockford. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Floyd Brown, fled the scene after the shooting and was later apprehended after a lengthy stand-off on Interstate 55 in central Illinois.
Keltner was a 13-year veteran of the force and a father of two young sons. His wife Becki Keltner penned an emotional letter to share with the world the kind of man her husband was, calling him the love of her life, a “cop’s cop” and “an amazing dad.” Her letter can be read in its entirety here.
