A suspect was taken into custody Friday after police responded to an incident in north suburban Gurnee earlier in the day, village officials said.

An “active police response” was reported near the intersection of Waveland and Grand avenues, the Village of Gurnee tweeted at 10:17 a.m.

The village said authorities were on the scene of a “barricaded suspect” but declined to offer further information.

Village officials warned the public to stay away from the area during the situation.

The village tweeted just after 12:30 p.m. that no injuries were reported following the incident.
