Authorities responded to reports of shots fired at Walmart Supercenter in Bedford Park Tuesday evening.

Heavy police presence, including Chicago and Bedford Park officials, was seen at the shopping center located at 7050 S Cicero Ave. at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said they received multiple calls of possible shots fired, though no evidence of a shooting was observed except for a single shell casing far away from the building.

Some shoppers told NBC 5 that they believe they heard shots coming from outside the building in the parking lot, others were saying police were telling everyone at the Walmart to evacuate the building.

According to Brenda, who wished not to give out her last name, said she was looking for a parking spot when she was unsure of what she was witnessing.

“Suddenly I saw people running but we weren’t sure what was going on,” she said.

Brenda says she was at an ALDI next door but personally did not hear any shots being fired.

“I saw an abandoned cart full of items that possibly someone left and ran,” Brenda said.

CPD and Bedford Park were seen working on clearing the area.

It remained unclear just what exactly happened and if there was a possible active shooter at the scene.

No injuries were reported, police said Tuesday night.

No other information was immediately available.
