The Chicago Bears are set to open their regular season against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, but one key player will not be suiting up for the team.
Tight end Trey Burton, who had been limited in practice throughout the week because of a groin injury, is one of eight Bears players who will miss Thursday’s game against the Packers.
Burton was seen on the field during warmups on Thursday, but was ruled out by the team on their official inactives list.
Tight end Adam Shaheen will likely get the bulk of the work, but Ben Braunecker would see a high number of snaps as well.
Offensive lineman Rashaad Coward is also going to be out of action with an elbow injury. Defensive lineman Bilal Nichols, who was limited in practice with a knee issue, will suit up and play, the team announced.
