A woman died, and a man was injured after a shooting near a bar in Dolton early Sunday, a source close to the investigation told NBC 5.

The incident took place around 1 a.m. Sunday outside of a bar located at 144th and King Drive.

Witnesses told NBC 5 there was a birthday party celebration happening inside the building, when an argument erupted. The bar was cleared out and that’s when witnesses say shots were fired.

According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the woman who was shot multiple times, was identified as Angelneka Smith, 31.

Smith was transported to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, where she was pronounced dead, officials said.

“They just start shooting like crazy,” said Hayley Fitch. “And then we start seeing people running, and we pulled around the corner, and we came back and then that’s when the police pulled up, when they start putting the tape up.”

Dozens of evidence markers were seen at the scene, scattered all over the ground early Sunday, as well as shell casings along the street.
